If you hide the Control Panel using System Policy Editor, users will not be able to select File -> Print from Internet Explorer 5.5 since it needs access to the Printers, Fonts, Mouse control panel control. Microsoft sense.

So now I need to allow access to CP but restrict all the things in it. I got a policy template from the MS KB but it doesn't lock down all things, partly because the template is for NT4 which is what my server is running and the client is Win2k. So, Network and Dial-up connections is left unguarded, amongst other things.

Does anyone have update policy templates to lock down everything in the Win2k CP? Does anyone know of a way around the Microsoft logic? Or can anyone point me in the right direction of a source that helps with the writing of policy templates so that I may help myself.

Additionally, there are things that show up in the Win2k CP that do not get there via a .cpl file. How do I lock these down too? Since a registry tweak can usually hide these such icons. Anyhow, I rather do this via a policy and not a registry tweak since I am dealing with around 50 machines.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
