Shortcut arrows

Okay guys, this will sound like a newbie question, but I've been searching high and low to see if there is a way to remove the white arrow from the corner of desktop shortcut icons. Can't find any information, wondered if anyone had any ideas. It's not critical, just something that annoys me.
