I hope and pray that someone out there somewhere has an answer
to this problem that I have been having. Please respond if you do!!!!! Ok let me
try to explain it as well as I can............For starters some basic info about my
equipment:
I have a custom built system.
I am running Windows 98 SE with an Intel Pentium lll,
800 megs. 133 buss, I use dial up internet with a Lucent
Win. Modem with the latest updates, 128MB PC-100
SDRAM., 32 Meg. AGP Viedo Graphics Accelerator,
My modem is also.....56K v.90...........
Ok...here's my nightmare.... I can log onto the internet with no problems,
when I do log on the two little monitors pop up on the task bar in the lower right
hand part of the screen as they would normally. The little monitors are flashing on
and off when I am surfing as usual, I click on an address or something that I want
to see and the new page comes up with decent speed for dial up.....and the little
screens are still flashing on and off...... I continue to look around and surf and then
I click a link or what ever and nothing.......the little hour glass pops on the mouse
arrow like it wants to go.....but I wait.......the two little monitors on the task bar are
black and not flashing....and I wait and wait...then a minute or so later....the little
monitors start flashing when they want to..and the page changes and normal surfing
resumes until a few clicks later when it freezes up again....the little monitors go black
and I wait and wait....this happens quite frequently and is extremely annoying!!!! I
don't know if freezes is a proper description....but it's like the modem won't respond
or the internet won't...I tried a different Modem.....to no avail.....PLEASE HELP ME
before I throw this thing out the window......LOL It's only 8-10 months old....Oh.. one more thing....I did do an update that I found here about adding "MaxMTU and MaxMSS strings in at 576 and 536 respectively".
