Lost Files When Moving

In Win 98 SE - Explorer, I was attempting to drag-and-drop files from one folder to another. However, the files do not appear in the new folder. Find turns up none of the files I thought I moved. The Recycle Bin does not contain them, either. Where could they have gone?
