Sounds like a great marketing idea but I need more onfo in order to make correctly informed recommendations, especially as there is no trial version.
Will the program refuse to install on other processors?
Assuming compatible OS, will it install and run on any hardware that includes Intel Atom, Intel Celeron-M, VIA C7-M? E.g. a 5¼" form-factor PC with a C7-M or a 3KG Acer Aspire 53XX full-size laptop with a Cel-M?
What exactly is "Browser Defender Toolbar"?
What components of PCT IS are included? E.g. Is it just "File Guard" and "Browser Guard"? Is there a firewall?
How does the resource usage(edit) compare with SD+AV, full and Starter Editions?
Thanks,
Pete

Okay, I found the online manual (http://www.pctools.com/forum/../netbook-security/help/6.2/) whiich answers some of my questions.
Seems "Security for Netbooks" is PC Tools Antivirus using the SD+AV database.
Saw no mention of "Browser Defender" (http://www.browserdefender.com/). Did I miss something? Is it still in Beta? Is it an install option?

Here is the info on Browser Defender.
It is still in the PC Tools Labs Forum, so I guess it is still in the testing stage.

Hi PC-Pete,
Will the program refuse to install on other processors?
System Requirements:
A PC with an Intel Atom, Intel Celeron-M or VIA C7-M processor
For 32 bit Win XP; 300 Mhz CPU with 256Mb RAM.
For 32 bit Vista Home Basic: 1Ghz CPU with 512Mb RAM
For All other 32 bit Vista versions; 1Ghz CPU with 1Gb RAM
You will not be able to install this on other processors other than the ones mentioned above.
Should run on any hardware as long as CPU is supported and OS is supported.
What components of PCT IS are included? E.g. Is it just "File Guard"
The IntelliGuards offered include: File Guard, Email Guard and Memory Guard.
How does the resource usage(edit) compare with SD+AV, full and Starter Editions?
PC Tools Security works differently to SDAV, so you may notice some differences in the resource usage.
Looks like you found the BD info :)

Thanks Anthony
I'm curious that Spyare Doctor heads the product page:
"Tailor-made protection for Netbooks featuring our Editors Choice Anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor:"
but there is no mention of it, or Browser Defender, in the manual.
(I know about the BD beta(s) but wasn't expecting that a free beta would be a feature of a retail product.)

Netbook Security provides protection against viruses and spyware and is similar to SDAV with respect to signature based threats, but unlike Spyware Doctor with AV it does not have behavioural based protection, in the form of Behaviour Guard and has less comprehensive real-time protection (less Intelliguard features). Netbook Security has an optimised version of Browser Defender, not available for Spyware Doctor or Spyware Doctor with AV by default.
The beta notification should have been removed from the website some time ago. I have double checked and BD is a final product. The website will be updated accordingly.
