Difficult Deletion

Recently noticed a problem with Windows ME (or atleast my installation of it) in so much as I am having problems deleteing folders. Files are a snap, but in order to remove any folder no matter what hard drive or where it is, I have to use DOS. That in itself was a difficulty until I found a really old diskette with 4dos on it, any ways Any Help Please.
