FAQ

What is PC Tools Together?

PC Tools together is an initiative to allow users to translate portions of the ThreatFire User Interface into their native language, and then make it available to all users. These are languages not typically shipped as standard.

How do I sign up?
To sign up just visit Signup for PC Tools Together. All you need to provide is your desired username, a password, choose the languages you speak and agree to the Terms and Conditions. You will then receive an email to confirm your signup and you are ready to start translating.

What are the different user roles?
There are two roles:

Translator - This is the default role. Translators are able to translate lines of text from the ThreatFire User Interface, view translations submitted by other users and suggest alternative translations. Points are accrued for all contributions.
Reviewers - Reviewers are translators that have been promoted due to their level of contribution. Reviewers are able to contribute in the same ways as translators as well as approve translations for inclusion in the final language pack. Points are also accrued for all contributions for reviewers.

How do I get promoted?
We regularly review both the quality and volume of contributions made by translators. Based on both those factors a decision is made on whether to promote or not. If you are promoted you will receive an email notification to the email you registered with.

How do I request a feature or report a bug with the application?
Feature requests and bug reporting can be done via the PC Tools Together Forum. Please note that if you are not already registered for the forum, you will have to do so before posting. We are planning a single signon feature to be included in a future release.

How do I add a product I want to contribute to?
You can add a product by logging in, going to your "My PC Tools Together" page, and clicking on the Add/Remove Projects link in the upper right hand corner. Just place a checkmark next to the product you would like to add and hit submit. If that project is available for your selected language it will appear in your "My PC Tools Together" page.

How do I add languages?
You can add a language by logging in, going to your "Profile" page, and clicking on the Add/Remove Languages link in the upper right hand corner. Just place a checkmark next to the languages you would like to add and hit submit. If your selected projects are available for your newly selected languages they will appear in your "My PC Tools Together" page.

Do my translations instantly go into the language pack?
Although your translations are instantly viewable they are not immediately used to create a language pack. All translations go through a community review process before being included.

How long does it take for a language pack to be available after it's translated?
There is no set timeframe. Language packs are released after a community review has taken place.

Raziel,

As German ships already with ThreatFire as standard we don't have it in the app.

The app is available now though for anyone to participate (without invite) at http://together.pctools.com

Feel free to sign up and view the language list.
