IS this a good program
I think it an excellent program and has been at or near the top for years now.
dose it have any issues with the built in windows defender in vista?
I would recommend disabling or uninstalling Windows Defender. It is a middle of the road program. One less thing to worry about.

I think that it a good choice. For me, I have had no infections since I have been using SD with AV.
as i was going to use one those pre paid visa cards to buy this program is the renewal fee the same as buying the whole program.
Hmm, not sure about this one, perhaps someone can answer this one.

You can purchase online from the www.pctools.com site or in the store. For me, online is preferred because you get the latest version. If you purchase online, you will be automatically renewed unless you opt out of that choice.
I hope the above provides most of your answers.:)

Hi Cricket01,
The renewal price for SD is USD$29.95 and renewal for SDAV is USD$39.95 (or the same price when the purchase was made). If you would like to upgrade to SDAV, please visit the link: http://www.pctools.com/en/spyware-doctor/addon/type/AV/code/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/ (enter in your license code to replace the 'xxxx')
PC Tools do send a reminder email notice when your subscription is due for renewal or if an automatic renewal will take place (which you can opt out of at any time and can be done via MyAccount (http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48180)).
To renew, you will need to do this via the PC Tools renewal link: www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/renew/
To purchase SD, you can either do this online via the PC Tools website or via a retail outlet (boxed version) listed below:
Best Buy
Circuit City
Eurpac
Fry's Electronics
MicroCenter
Nebraska Furniture Mart
Office Depot
Office Max
Sam's Club
Walmart

Well, I am not sure about issues, but, I would disable it. I do not have Vista, but try control panel, security center, it may be there. If not, run Msconfig, go to start up and uncheck Windows Defender.
Really, buy it online from www.pctools.com, it is a lot easier.

I have just updated the info above. If you would like to purchase the box version (retail), you will need to go into one of the stores above or you can simply purchase it via the PC Tools website - www.pctools.com.

Here is the link to turn WD Off

The only issues that I am aware of are additional resource consumption with WD and make sure that if SD and WD are set to auto scan, that they do not scan at the same time.

i would not run "windows defender", in "real-time", along with "spyware doctor".. however, you can do what you want..
i am not saying to not use "windows defender", i am just saying that i would not run "windows defender" along with "spyware doctor" and that is because they both are supposed to do the same thing..
is SD the best "antivirus program"? i don't know much about SD as an antivirus program, however i have heard some good things about it.. as for which antivirus program is "the best", that is a matter of personal preference.. each person decides for their self which one is the "best", for them.. each antivirus program has its own strong points.. unfortunately, no one antivirus program is going to catch all malware, all the time..
you can't really ask for advice on which product(s) to use in a vendor's forum.. it wouldn't be appropriate to use this forum to recommend a competitor's product (so you are not likely to get any recommendations, here, for competitors' products).. if you want advice on which products to use, you should ask in some other forum, which does not belong to a vendor..

I support redwolfe_98.
I do recommend SD with AV as your primary PC defense.
If you feel the need to be more proactive about protection, get Malwarebytes free for on demand malware scanning and Avira free for on demand antivirus scanning and use them to scan once per month. Note, with Avira you need to set both Windows Avira services to manual and remove it from the start up so as to not cause conflicts.
