I have the latest version installed (6.0.1.440) and any email I send from Thunderbird that has an attachment is getting scrambled and looks like this:

and so on. If I disable Spyware Doctor this goes away - any ideas what might be causing this? I have Avast anti-virus running (but not the Antivirus that comes with SD) and Spamfighter.

Hi
Do you have Email Guard installed? If so please try disabling that.

That was the first thing I tried. Disabled email guard and then restarted Thunderbird - made no difference. The problem only went away when I disabled Spyware Doctor completely.

Hi
What do you mean by this? Using the Exit command from the taskbar tray?

We will test this and see if we can recreate the problem. Did you try disabling IntelliGuard and seeing if this works?

I disabled Email guard but not the whole of Intelliguard. Should I try that instead? Right now I have SD disabled in it's entirity.

Hi
Could you please try disabling Intelli-Guard (instead of just EmailGuard)?

No problem if the whole of Intelliguard is disabled. What's the next step?

Hi
Well we've shown that Email Guard isn't to blame, can you please try disabling each guard in turn to see if any one is causing the problem?

I have Gmail using it through Thunderbird, and Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 6.0.1.440, I have not issue at all with them together.

What e-mail account are you using in your Thunderbird? Gmail, Yahoo mail, AOL Mail or GMX Mail? Because it could be only a certain e-mail that produce that kind of issue along with Spyware Doctor.

Disabled each in turn and that made no difference. Then enabled all again and started disabling them one by one leaving the previously disabled ones disabled, this made no difference either (even when all guards were disabled and greyed out in this way). The only way the email with attachments is working correctly is if I actually take the option to disable Intelliguard as a whole from the top of the menu.

I use my ISPs (O2) email servers accessed through POP3.

I have now removed Avast anti-virus and enabled PC Tools AV with my SD subscription. No difference, still getting corrupt messages if Intelliguard is active.

So - no one has any clues what might be causing this problem then?

Sorry, I really need to make this site a daily occurance.

Yes new version.
Yes still happening.....I will double check by turning email guard on and sending an email to my friend who alerted me of the issue.

Thank you

If the op is still around, do you still get this issue?

Thanks again.

+1 for same problem.

Been using thunderbird for years and this problem only occured when I registered SD+AV. And its not just attachments, even text only emails will be garbled at random.

Interestingly, i did NOT have this problem on Vista x64. But now I am back on Vista x86, I have the problem again.

Any updates?

Just in case anyone else reads this thread down the track, the problem with garbled emails in thunderbird appears to be fixed in the 7.0 beta version. All emails have been working fine so far....

It seems I spoke too soon. For anyone reading this, the latest release v7.0.0.508 still has issues with corrupting thunderbird emails.

I'm sure it will not affect those that didn't have a problem in the past with emails. I wouldn't mind giving this a go. Will see what happens. I found the info in the beta forum :) BRB
