My system works and norton antivirus won't stay activated. I have spyware doctor (but not the pc tools antivirus) and it's clearly conflicting. Whenever my norton product suddenly says it's not activated, I also receive a notice that SD has blocked a file that looks suspiciously like a symantec file, symlcsv1.exe. I have to shutdown the SD before the norton will activate. Any suggestions?

What version of Norton AV are you running?
You can always try disabling Spyware Doctor, do the activation and update and then re-enable Spyware Doctor. See if that works.

I have systemworks. The a/v is v14.0.4.1, the norton utilities is v19.0.1.8.
Temporarily disabling SD does work, but it's annoying to have to do that every couple of days. The SD is 6.01.440 which, if I remember correctly, is a recent upgrade. Or maybe it's the norton that's a recent upgrade. grrr, I don't remember.

Norton and SD have been conflicting of late.
Someone else is going to have to add to this thread for a solution.

Hi Cfoster8,
Could you zip up the file symlcsv1.exe and also attach a history file from SD and we'll check this out further.

symlcsv1.exe is the Symantec Core Component. This is a important file to Norton Products.
Hope it helps

Hi Cfoster8,
I am in the process of installing Norton SystemWorks and Norton Utilities atm. I'll give this a test and see if I am able to recreate the problem :)

Here they are. The symantec file wasn't where the history led me to believe.
The history has the most recent activity at the bottom of the list and is from several days ago but does show the block more than once.

Cfoster8, this does appear to be a FP. Could you attach the actual file that SD is detecting.

The file SYMLCSV1.EXE doesn't seem to actually exist on my computer. I've run repeated searches for it. Closest I've been able to come is SYMLCSV.EXE.

Why cant i get rid of this message "application has been blocked". How do i remove the trojan. Seems to be messsing with Norton Systemworks cause now it says i'm not registered. Is it legitamate or did the latest file update cause norton to trigger the alert. I hear some trojans pose as the norton file SYMLCSV1.exe whcih is the file SD has listed. how can i tell the difference?? I have vista bye the way. I can attach the file if needed but dont see a way to do it here. Thanks in advance

i had the same problem, you need to find the trojan name (which isn't actually a threat) and allow it on the sd list. Then you'll most likely have to install and re-install your norton. It's because of the latest sd update, and there looking for a fix now. Until then i have my sd disabled with occasional scans followed by shutting it down again. That's the way you sort it, but prepare to have "haapy" preach to you on the evils of the symantec company.:p
