Hi
Spyware Doctor will have signatures for known variants of the Conficker Worm. However, the best (and only way in this case) to fully protect yourself is to apply all the latest Microsoft Windows updates. For more information go here (http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/viruses/worms/conficker.mspx).
Hope that helps

Microsofts's spyware removal tool is supposed to detect all of the known variants of Conficker on your computer.

Hi
Using real-time protection programs like Spyware Doctor and ThreatFire will reduce the likelihood of you getting infected. In general, disabling all autoruns from removable drives, not opening attachments in emails, not visiting "dubious" websites, and being generally cautious will help prevent infection.
Hope that helps

Microsoft has released a utility which properly disables Autoruns for all drives. Everyone definitely should download and run the utility like before -- I don't know -- tomorrow, April 1st when Conflicker is supposed to go live?

hi,
Conficker worm ,virus is actually a virus code programmed in such a way that it can infect your computer and spread itself to other computers across a network automatically, without human interaction.
Most antivirus software could detect and block the Conficker virus, so if you have updated antivirus software on your computer, then your computer is safe from conficker infection.

Another layer of protection you might want to consider if you haven't done so already is consider getting some software to block internet advertisements, as these advertising sites have become a huge target for hackers injecting malware into the ads over recent months. Taking out this method of spyware delivery can help reduce your risk of spyware infection from websites.

A free add-on is available for Firefox to do this.

If you use Internet Explorer, the only way to block the ads up is to install a proxy server on your PC and configure IE's connection settings to connect through it - you then tell the proxy what sites to ban (I can give you a list if you want). I use the free version of Lavasoft (not the makers of Ad-Aware) ezProxy for this purpose.

Also as well as anti-spyware software, some decent anti-virus software can sometimes pick out and block the code hackers inject into legitimate web pages to deliver infections. Avast seems to be the best free one at this - it recently spotted such an attack (using an iframe) on the website of one of my local radio stations which happened on a Saturday night when loads of people would have been using it for playlists etc.
