I am running 64-bit Vista with the new Spyware Doctor for 64-bit.
Remote Desktop works fine into this machine without SD running.
How can I run SD and still have my machine accept RDC connections??

Hi Tgphilly,
We managed to recreate this problem and this has been escalated to the devs for a fix :)

Thanks, I depend heavily on RDC and this is a real problem for me.

This issue seems to be tied with the switching users issue which the devs are still working on. At the moment, no timeframe is yet available but if I hear anything, I'll provide an update.

Looks like this issue has been open from as far back as two years ago. Any update on when it might be addressed?

This has been fixed in the current beta version that is available. Btw, you are currently using an older version of SD. The current one available is v6.1.0.448. The current beta version available is on v7.0.0.505 and the final release is due in the coming weeks.

Here is another one.
1. Win XP Pro+SP3, SDwAV.447
Every morning this computer is started and immediately logged into a limited user account.
This week on Monday, Tuesday, _and_ Wednesday a green SD window popped up after auto update and said "update completed, reboot is necessary".
2. Win XP Home+SP3, SDwAV .447
This morning (Wednesday) this computer was started and immediately logged into the admin account. It auto updated _and no restart was needed_.
No other AV is active on either computer.
Question for other users:
Did others get "restart required" on Mon/Tue/Wed?
Question for achen:
Did the updates from PCT on Mon/Tue/Wed require restarts?
For my computer, I don't get any restart required warnings, expect on big updates.

Hi Ohso,
I checked this out and the only updates that were available during Mon, Tue and Wed were database updates, so a reboot should not have been required.
I have 2 XP, SP3's however, one PC has SDA v7.0.0.505 beta and the other SDA v6.1.0.448 and either have prompted for the reboot during this period. Also, gave this a test on Win 7 without any problems.
Did the same thing occur today's update?
Interesting observation: after it was started this morning, and allowed to sit at the login screen for maybe 10 minutes to finish loading the OS, the limited user acct icon was clicked to log into it. Came back 10 minutes after that and it was hung on login. I can't even remember the last time that happened, months maybe. Seems like quite a coincidence.
Had to force a restart. Once restarted and logged into, it just said "smart update completed" and did not require a restart.
So it does not always require a restart.
There's a clue in there somewhere.
Ask the developers what was the same on Mon/Tue/Wed
and what was different on Thursday.
This computer is a fairly straightforward installation. Nothing in the way of crapware loaded on it. Plenty of memory for an XP computer (2 GB), tons of available disk space.
I do have lots of unnecessary services turned off, for performance and for security.
Q: What services does SDwAV _require_ to be on?
I have another thought on this limited user account problem(s).
When in a limited user acct, if I bring up the SDwAV GUI and click on Smart Update to run a _manual_ update it refuses and says "administrator acct required."
So ... when PCT does an _auto_ update while I am in a limited user acct, that is supposed to work?
Is that how it works?
(Please don't forget my question above: what services does SDwAV require.)

Firstly, nothing has changed from Monday's update to Thursday, only the signature DB's.
In order to run SD, you will need to run both PC Tools Aux service and PC Tools Security Service.
In a limited account -> Automatic updates and scheduled updates work, however a manual update requires Admin rights.
How many user accounts do you have?
What sort of user accounts do you have set up?
What account do you use the most?
> nothing has changed from Monday's update to Thursday
The 3 SDwAV popup windows saying to restart were green.
What does that color mean?
What would cause SDwAV to say to restart?

I wasn't clear. What _Windows_ services does SDwAV require.
All those services that you see when you 1) run msconfig or 2) Manage -> Services.
1 admin acct
3 limited user accts
5% admin acct use
90% one of the limited user accts
5% a second limited user acct
0% the third limited user acct (it's there for the rare case that user needs it)
