I am running Vista (32-bits) and have some questions:

1) If I load Spyware Doctor, will I lose PC performance?

2) If I load Spyware Doctor, will my PC take longer to boot up?

3) If I load SD's antivirus software, will I loser performance?

4) If I load SD's antivirus software, will my PC take longer to boot up?

5) Will either of these two programs cause any other unexpected consequences?

thanks

Keith

I am running Vista (32-bits) and have some questions:

1) If I load Spyware Doctor, will I lose PC performance?
If you have at least 1GB ram, no significant performance degradation.

2) If I load Spyware Doctor, will my PC take longer to boot up?
It will take a few seconds longer as it does have to load the programs and protections.

3) If I load SD's antivirus software, will I loser performance?
I am assuming that you are talking about Spyware Doctor with Antivirus, which is the preferred way to go if you want both products. There will not be any more than mentioned above.

4) If I load SD's antivirus software, will my PC take longer to boot up?
Ditto.

5) Will either of these two programs cause any other unexpected consequences?
Not that I am aware of. If there are, the forum is here to help.

thanks

Keith

I hope the above adequately answers your questions.

Hi,

The best way is to try it out. You can always uninstall it if its something that you don't want.

Most of the times, it will also depend on what you have starting up. The more applications you have starting up, the longer it will take.

After every bootup, SD will cause a delay the first time you do a particular action on your computer. This is because SD correctly assumes that there is no guarantee that there are no infections on the computer. For example,

-- launch windows explorer.
-- Click on File. Since there are several potential actions under the File menu, SD will halt all further activity for several seconds while it scans the associated dlls which potentially could be called if you then select any action under the File menu in windows explorer.
-- After SD has done this scan and assuming that you leave windows explorer running, then SD will not cause a delay for subsequent clicks on the File menu and the actions listed under File menu.

So, as you can see, SD causes a short delay the first time you launch a particular program or perform a particular system task, but not thereafter.
