We have the first mockups of the PC Tools Together initiative and this is your chance to comment on the look and feel (as well as ask any questions about functionality)

I have included a Stage number in the title of this thread because I will be starting new threads for each area of community feedback (Some information about the process of translating and reviewing text will be next as Stage 2).

I look forward to your comments and opinions!!

Hi
This looks really good. Is this going to be an adjunct to the current community forum?

Hi
This looks really good. Is this going to be an adjunct to the current community forum?

It will become more and more integrated as time goes by. I can definately see latest and related forum posts being integrated into the app.

The main link to the app will be in the Company pulldown menu (under forum).

Also, we will not be able to implement single sign-on between the two in the first release but it will be on the nice to have list.

Any suggestions on a greater level of integration?

Thanks

I think the text looks too bland on the first screenie. Too much "Times New Roman" - atleast on the "steps"-buttons; they're both grey and have an old, boring feel. Personally I also think the text on the title; "Welcome to PC Tools Together", should atleast be in bold.

There's a typo; "Contributers". It should read "Contributors".

If there's dots after "Talk" and "Together" (can't really see as the screenshots are too small...), I think there should be for "Now" as well.

Thanks Raven for all your points. I have also added two more screens (for a total of 4).

I can also appreciate being screenshots that you can't see all the details (As soon as we have coded versions we will be giving out the links)

Thanks for the feedback so far.

1. Blue on White and White on Blue (nice, relaxing),
2. Times New Roman (Doesn't fit with color combination above, somehow old-fashioned).
3."Wellcome to PC Tools together" (maybe in bold and little bit smaller would look better).
4. "MyProjects -> Project - Language" (gray, maybe would look better if just a little bit lighter).

The rest, looks nice and simple, which is good.

Looks like an interesting start.
Only thing I might question is BLUE text which has never been my favorite. For those who do not have 20-20 vision and it tends to 'float' and is difficult to read.

Thanks flamer0n - Some running themes emerging (Especially around the Times Roman)

Thanks. One of the main goals was to create a site that had a PC Tools look and theme. If you have a suggestion of a complimentary color that we can try that is easier to read but still keeps the PC Tools look and feel, feel free to post it and we will give it a try.

Cheers

PS. Keep the feedback coming, its great to get so many comments and we will be trying all the suggestions to see how they work.

I fully understand the 'identity wish'.
You may use Blue, but then have to balance off with a slightly more grayish back-ground. Too light back-ground blinds off the blue text as the back ground is the dominant one. As an example: It is often easier to read white text on blue back ground than blue on white back ground.
A lot may be corrected with contrast setting on the screens, but most people has it on max contrast.
I'm sure You will find a balance somewhere.

That's great. We are going to try a few combination's and see what everyone thinks. You will also see a lot more of the suggested changes implemented once we have a live version for the Beta participants to play around with.
