Now PCTAV and SD both incorporate "Sliding Signatures".

Is SS anything like what I describe here (http://www.pctools.com/forum/showpost.php?p=177856&postcount=14)?
Does this mean that SD and PCTAV scanning engines and/or sig databases have become more closely related?
Will/dose SD+AV soon/now use a unified scanner for all types of malware?Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete,

Sliding signatures look for something unique to a threat that could appear in different places depending on when the threat was linked.

PC Tools security products like most other AV products use a combination of technology rather than depend on one technique to detect everything.

It might appear to the user that there is a unified scanner but actually there are more than one and which one it uses depends on the file being scanned.
