Hi, ... again. :)

I just installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 RC1 onto my sisters laptop with freshly installed Windows XP Home. She was running Internet Explorer 7 previous to the upgrade, with Browser Defender v2.0.5.99 installed.

Everything was fine until it came to her hotmail, she logged into hotmail and tried to click on an entry in her inbox in attempt to access an received email, and the browser crashes, and every-time reproduced. I uninstalled Browser Defender and re-visited her hotmail and clicked on the same entry in her inbox to access an received e-mail, ... no problem, I repeated a few times to confirm the problem disappeared. I then re-downloaded a fresh copy of Browser Defender v2.0.5.99 from the official website and re-visited the hotmail and clicked on an entry in her inbox in attempt to access an received e-mail, browser crashes again, and repeated every-time. Uninstalled the Browser Defender temporarily until the problem can be resolved, don't need my sis crowing at me...

I have the Dr Watson log file including the dump file, if you want either or both... please let me know.

btw; I'm sorry I'm giving you guys a hard time... ;)

Understand the issues related to BETA. Even though it it RC1, it is still not ready for prime time.

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) RC1 was released on January 26th, 2009. The RC1 (Release Candidate 1) means that the software is ready to be evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing.

Best solution is to reinstall IE7.

I know exactly what RC means, just like I know it's not RTM yet, and I don't care.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 RC1 is working perfectly, except when having PC Tools - Browser Defender plugin installed and visiting hotmail and attempting to access an received e-mail.

... Oh please try not to seem too ungrateful that I'm reporting an situation with one of PC Tools products, if they wish to act on it now, fine, if they wish to act on it later down the road, that's fine too... But that'll not hesitate me from reporting, unless one of the PC Tools devs tells me they don't appreciate... and I simply don't think your one of them. :p

That too is nice to know, thanks!

Now just to wait around for the next bugfix release, ... should be pretty stable with Internet Explorer browsers now anyways... ;)
