i antivirus jan 16 and prior release crash on startup

i tried the december and january 16 releases and both crash upon startup

i immediately ran the updaters then started the application iantivirus which shows the small round logo in the toolbar at the top but then promptly disappears -- no notice is given and macos does not give an error either

proceed to logs and find an error
repeat and same error over and over

error 'segmentation fault'

this happens every time you start the app iantivirus, same problem in prior version -- i was waiting to see a new release in hopes it would be stable enough to run but no luck on this one

here is the error from the log

leopard 10.5.6 all updates installed, clamxav installed but disabled during trials

Could you try downloading iAV from http://www.iantivirus.com/download/ and see if this helps? Could you also confirm the version you have installed?

I had downloaded from the download link every time rather than from the main page.

all installs were from the download link from the start

the version file was iantivirus 20-52-27.pkg (1.33 from Jan29)

get info on the package shows no other version information

I don't quite understand your post? and what is it in relation to the thread you have picked? are you saying your computer is infected and no antivirus software is removing this infection?

oddly enough the iavd app shows its running but the user interface app continues to crash

i have not been able to isolate any single program that may be in conflict so I am leaning towards this being a system issue

i ran the updater separately and all was up to date

i went through every program...quit everything and shut down every background task i could via activity monitor and iantivirus still crashes as soon as the program starts -- iavd continues to run as a background process without issue..i tried updating via the updater first and no changes
