Hi nadman, could you please tell me:
1. Does the crash happen every time?
2. What other software is installed on your mac?
3. Have you got multi user switching enabled?
4. Did this happen with iAV 1.32 or some other version?

Thanks in advance

No the crash happens occasionally such when I am cutting and pasting or checking the spelling or looking up a word in Office 208 or composing an email or opening emails in Thunderbird.

I am using Aantivirus 1.32 and yes it happens in that version
I dot know what is or use multi-user
I never had any problems until the new version of Iantivirus came out.

Software:
Firefox
Thunderbird
Office 2008
citrix
app cleaner
gimp
Onyx
email backup
Carbon copy cloner
unarchiever
preview panes:
flip 4 mac
smart sleep
perian

all of which were not a problem until IAntivirus updated
Hope that helps.

Thanks .

Thanks for the information. We will set up a machine running the same software as listed and see if it happens. In the meantime can you do these and let me know if the problem gets resolved by it:
1. Uninstall iAV
2. Reboot your mac
3. Install iAV from www.iantivirus.com/download

Also please tell me hardware specs of the machine you're using.

Thanks

Please run the uninstaller which is available from Applications -> iAntiVirus -> Uninstall iAntiVirus.

Because there are problems with it on your machine I suggest a reboot after uninstall has completed.

Thanks!

uninstalled and reinstalled (after reboot) and my system crashed again. I had to uninstall and leave IAntivirus uninstalled until you come up with a correction or a new version.

Please advise.

Hye,

I am dealing with the same problem. My system also overloads recently when I use office 08. I currently uninstalled the iantivirus as recommended. I hope a solution will be given soon.

Hey Bram:

Thanks for that. Yes Office 2008 and IAV clash. My whole system locked up solid Since uninstalling IAV things are OK. This only began after the latest update of IAV.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

We still haven't been able to recreate the problem here. :(
Please see this post for information we require when the problem occurs:

http://www.pctools.com/forum/showpost.php?p=200127&postcount=8

Note: we also run Office 2008.

Hi:

It is impossible to give you a screen shot of he activity monitor, top of command antivirus main when the problem occurs as the OS is LOCKED as was explained before. So if it is something else you want please expalin. Meantime I have completely unintalled Antivirus as it is not possible to work. There is nothing by way of hardware attached to my mac.
I have been simply working with Office 2008: utting and pasting, spell checking when a crash occurs. BTW I recreated the same problem doing similar things in Thunderbird. Since uninstalling IANtivirus the problem has not occurred at all. Confirming that the issue rests with you.

Since it is now documented by others I suggest you do more research or provide more detailed instructions as to what it is that you want. I provided a detailed crash report already. I do not have the time to attempt to recreate the problem as I have a MAc to be productive not generate crashes. If I wanted crashes I would use a PC.

Thanks
