hi i recently downloaded pc tools 5.0.1.1 and it think it works well, but the only downside that i see is that with the intelliguard on i think my webpages load slowly.
it's intermittent actually. there may be a few instances where i can click to go to different websites or go to different links within that same website and it's fast. other times, it takes anywhere from 15-30 seconds to load a page and at the status bar at the bottom of my firefox, it says "opening www.yahoo.com..." then it eventually loads.
currently on my system actively running, i have zonealarm and spybot running in the background. at first i thought it was the "tea timer" program of spybot causing this but i turned it off and webpages sometimes still loaded slow. never had this problem before so i'm assuming it's the intelliguard feature of pc tools.
is this normal? how do i make the webpage load times faster/normal again?

Based on your information provided.
Spybot is old tech an I would recommend removing. Teatimer is a definite conflict.
Make sure that you the current version of ZoneAlarm ( I am assuming that this is the FireWall only) and make sure you only have one firewall running.
If you have the ZA suite, then you will have further conflicts.
Please provide the details of your protection software.

well, even when i disable the teatimer, the webpages still load up slow sometimes.
i only have ZA and no other 3rd party firewall. i do not have any other protection software running in the background aside from spybot's teatimer (which currently is turned off now). so aside from PC Tools and ZA, nothing else is running. i have to physically run different programs for other scans to occur.

Hi Rutt Roh,
I assume disabling IntelliGuard solves the web browsing speed? Could you try to isolate the problem by turning off File Guard and then Memory Guard?
Also when this happens, is there a particular site where you see this issue?

Then lets start cleaning your system.
Download and run CCleaner and get rid of your temp files.
If you have Registry Mechanic, run it till no errors, if you do not have it, run CCleaner registry clean till no more errors.
Download and run What's Running? or if you prefer, do start run Msconfig. Check your startup files and uncheck things that you do not need. If you make a mistake, you can always re-check. Note, you have to re-boot for changes to take effect.
Are you just running PCT AV or are your running PCT SD too?

i believe so... the web browsing speed seems to go back to normal when i turn off the intelliguard feature. nothing different for file guard and memory guard.
all sites behave like this once intelliguard is on. intermittently, some sites load slow and other times, it's normal.

my temp files are all clean and all of the active processes that are running should be. this includes startup programs too.
i'm just running PCT AV. i don't have SD.

i mean this isn't really a huge problem but it's more of a nuisance than anything.

Is you IE7 Phishing Filter on? That causes slowness on many web pages.

i don't use IE7 when browsing web pages... i only use firefox.
i don't see any too many options in PC Tools to change settings for the internet (including intelliguard), but only if i want to change the way i get alert prompts.

is the intelliguard feature of pc tools causing this slowness?
does anyone else have this issue? i'm used to fast loading webpages when i had my symantec antivirus program that ran in the background... and with no delays either.

Do you have anything else running with PCTAV? Is norton antivirus still installed? Make sure you don't have another antivirus's real time protection running.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling PCTAV in safemode to avoid any conflicts.

nothing else is running with PCTAV. my norton antivirus's license expired i guess and that was why it couldn't update anymore so i uninstalled it off my system and got pc tools instead so that shouldn't be the problem.
i'm guessing i'm the only one experiencing this intermittent slowdown when loading websites?

Norton AV is renowned for leaving things behind .
I suggest running the Norton Removal Tool (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039)
just to make sure there's no Norton remnants conflicting with PCT AV.
