My Belkin Network USB Hub was working OK, displaying the attached devices and the devices accepting data, until I purchased PC Tools Internet Security 2009 and Desktop Maestro 3.0 and loaded it onto my laptop earlier this week. The laptop is running Windows Vista.

When I launched the Belkin menu instead of listing my devices (a printer, a memory stick and an external hard drive) I had a message stating: "No devices are currently available. ..." and refered me to the trouble shooting section in Help. There were examples from various Firewall suppliers, but not from PC Tools. Please can someone give me some guidance. It would also be helpful to tell me how to get to each screen required as I am new to these PC Tools menus! :)

If you want to get a better understanding of the device, here is a review of it, and my comments (#2, RobertC429), on another site:

Check your firewall settings. The Belkin write up indicates that it makes appropriate changes to the Windows Firewall, but you are now using the PCT Firewall. You might want to temporarily disable the firewall and see if it all works. Then enable it and make the appropriate changes to allow the hub.

For info on the menus, click help option for the product.

Happy New Year!

I have already shown that I have access to the devices when PCT software is de-activated. When I re-installed, I "allowed" everything when asked "block/allow?"

I have looked in: PCT IS, Settings, Firewall Settings, Applications; there is a list of Authorised or Blocked Applications including "Belkin Network USB Hub Control Center" with Log set as "Yes" and Permissions set as "Full Access".

Selecting this entry displays the Advanced settings which has one tab, "General", with two entries:

The first is "Access through a child process" and an action of "Allow".
The second has an Option of "Modify system and Applications" and an action of "Allow".

Above the tab is the location of the application. This is the Belkin Connect.exe which, when invoked, displays the screen with the "No devices are currently available." message.

In what other places do I need to look?
Do I need to have an entry for each peripheral attached to this hub? If so, should this be done in IS or DM, or both?

Sorry Robert, this is beyond what I know, perhaps someone else can jump in here to help.
