I am trying to user "poledit", but I have found that it not on Win 2k Pro so I copied it from my copy of sever 2k. When I go to run it I get an error saying: - Unable to open template file D:\WINNT\INF\COMMON.ADM. Once I have click on the OK button it takes me in the open file box. I would like to know can I import these files from server 2k which is on my E drive.

Policy editor is an app for Win9x/Me !

On Win2K you use the Group Policy Editor.

From Start>Run with "gpedit.msc" (a MMC extension).

Of course the templates are different than the ones used for the older product line. You will see more options to set. Don't forget to read the Help as introduction to guide you along. And be careful when making certain changes, define a separate user and a user group for first experience, else you may harm yourself as an Admin of your own machine.

yes you can copy that file, also you may need to copy winnt.adm, they are both required for poledit.exe

If you are on a network with a Windows 2000 server, you usually don't need poledit, Group policies are the way to go (you can import many different adm files to give yourself more options. If you server is not win2k (eg netware winnt4), poledit may be the best option.
