Hello
I have worked out that it is a conflict between PC tools Spyware Doctor with the 3 free add-ons (Site Guard, Email Guard and Behavior Guard). I solved this by completely shutting down spyware doctor and the windows live mail would sync, a resolution to this problem would be greatly appreciated since my computer is not running with full protection just now. It is also the same in windows live mail beta. I have added both windows live mail and the address of the mail server to the whitelist on spyware doctor but it has no affect. The http server will only sync if spyware doctor is fully turned off. i.e shutdown spyware doctor and computer restarted without out spyware doctor running. I had Spyware Doctor without the add-ons and there was no problem with mail syncing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I am running SD/AV with EG, BG & SG along with Windows Live Mail. No problems.
I had some problems with Windows Live Mail some time ago. Microsoft had me uninstall and re-install Windows Live Mail and since then it has been working A-OK.
Make sure that you have the current version of SD as well.

Two other things.
In Windows Live Mail, right click your e-maiil account, choose properties, connection, make sure that your connection is set up correctly.
In Spyware Doctor, general, proxy settings, make sure that your connection is set up correctly.

I have tried uninstalling all windows live mail applications then re-installing them all. This problem only started when I installed the add ons, I am directly connected to the internet so no proxy settings and spyware doctor is only stopping hotmail (i.e http server not pop3 etc). I am running the most current version of spyware doctor and I am running the most recent non beta version of windows live mail. Are there updates to the Add-ons I have missed?
Thanks
Andy

Just to confirm, please verify that the proxy settings indicate Local Area Connection for Live Mail and Use Direct Connection for Spyware Doctor.
The server URL that I have is:
http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v1.0.0/sync.aspx[/url]
Please check yours.
I am also running a hotmail account with no issues.
If the above checks do nnot fix the problem, I am at a loss as to what is wrong.

I am assuming that you are using the paid version of SD version is 6.0.0.386
I am a bit confused about the 3 free add-ons. If you downloaded these from the PCTools web site this could be the problem. Ver .386 comes built in with these 2 of the 3 addons and you need not need to re-add them. If you wish to have Behavior Guard, you need to go to the PCTools my Account and click the plugon.
I have the behavior guard and antivirus plugin selected in my account. All the other guards are listed in the intelliguard status tab.
If this is the case, try uninstalling Spyware Doctor and re-installing it, but do not do the 3 free addins and see if it is working.

Stuff I have tried:
I have checked the http server in windows live mail they are correct.
I have checked connection settings in spyware doctor.
I have a paid version of spyware doctor.
I have unchecked the behaviour guard in my account and now windows live mail works. I assume it is a conflict between windows live and the behaviour guard. If you look at the install at the bottom of the page it explains the addons and how to download them: http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/. This is what I did.
Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

Good, we have getting close.
You do not have to utilize the 3 addons. If you look at your Intelliguards, you should now have Site Guard and E-Mail Guard as these come with ver 386. Please confirm this.
Now we are down to the Behavior Guard issue. The only proper way to Install Behavior Guard is to utilize My Account and check the Behavior Guard plugin. Also if you utilize Behavior Guard, you must NOT have ThreatFire installed. It is either ThreatFire or Behavior Guard, not both. Please confirm this.

I have Site Guard and E-Mail Guard in the intelli guard. The way I installed it was too check the box then I installed it on my account. I do not have threatfire on my computer.
thanks

wrighta,
I am going to turf this one to Achen. I am out of options.
So I am leaving you with Live Mail Working and Behavior Guard not installed.
He will be in touch.

A bit more info.
Achen just informed me that:
I have SG and EG installed automatically because
SG and EG are included in the SD+AV installer.
So then, you did the correct thing adding them as you did.
So now the issue is why Behavior Guard impacts Live Mail. Again, it does not impact my set up and perhaps achen can shed some light on this one.
I apologize for the confusion between SD/AV and SD.

I have just tested SD+AV with BG, EG and SG installed and could not recreate the problem. Does Windows live mail sync at all? or does it take a while to sync? Do you have any other security software installed? if so could you also provide the version numbers? and we'll do some further testing.
You could also try loading Windows with 'diagnostic startup' to see if there are any other programs conflicting, which is causing this problem. To do this go to Start-> Run-> type msconfig-> General tab-> select "diagnostic startup - load basic devices and services only"-> reboot-> start up SD manually and see if you are experiencing problems with Windows live mail. (Take note of the original setting, so once you finish, you can change it back to that setting).
