Does Spam Monitor support Thunderbird?

I have several accounts that I access via POP3 and am wondering if SM supports Thunderbird or not.

Hi XWyldRogueX,

As stated on the website, Spam Monitor "Supports all popular email programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla Mail and Eudora".

Well, Spam Monitor will not configure properly to work with Thunderbird and now I cannot receive ANY email from ANY of my POP accounts.

Upon calling their Tech Support number, I was asking them to help me resolve my email issues but because I was using the trial version (was trying it before buying it) they refuse to help me and as I stated, my client can no longer connect to ANY of the POP servers.

Never had a problem until I install SM and now I really regret even installing this trash software and now my business is in the lurch as I can no longer get my emails.

I will be conferring with my attorney to see if their refusal to help me correct the problem their software caused qualifies for a lawsuit as I am losing business without the ability to send and receive orders and shipment notifications.

I am one very unhappy person thanks to SM.

On the website, it does not say that Spam Monitor supports Thunderbird. So if you decide to use SM, you are using it at your own risk. It is no ones fault but your own.

Just got off the phone with a nice fellow and apparently the recent update of Thunderbird they do not support but the last version they do so you're wrong right from the start there lil buddy.

And to say it is my fault is ridiculous. If a software vendor does not properly divulge information pertinent for the END USER, then it is the software Developer's fault and NOT the unsuspecting consumer. I heard of some idiotic responses in my time but yours takes the prize!!

Your conclusion:
Software company A offers an application that it touts will support X,Y,Z with an inherent flaw/bug.
A consumer then downloads and installs said software only to have the software not only not work but also screws up the settings of his/her application/computer.
And it's the CONSUMER'S fault?? LMFAO@your lack of logic.

So I guess if you install a screwed up patch/update from Microsoft(or any other software vendor) and it screws up your comp/application, it isn't their fault for releasing a flawed patch/update but yours for installing it with the understanding it is going to work properly??

Anyways, after going over my email settings, SM did indeed screw up everything in my email client: account settings, mailboxes and associated filters so I have alot of work and recovery to do to try to reclaim my accounts, emails and filters.

I will be sure to warn people to be careful with this software as it does change settings and does NOT restore original settings when uninstalled.

So far, PC Tools are at 1 for 2 in my book. Threatfire is an awesome companion to NOD32 and I highly recommend it to family, friends and customers.

Update:

After having to restore all the usernames, settings, folders and filters, I was able to connect to all of my email accounts.

However..... I have a TON of duplicate emails that got downloaded. I have an Add-on installed on Thunderbird that allows me to find duplicates but now THAT is no longer working while my wife's Thunderbird is working just fine.

Going to uninstall and re-install the Add-on and see if that resolves this new issue.

**Update2**

I decided to send 4 emails that are exactly the same to 2 accounts and the filter did it's job on those but it does not detect the duplicates incurred due to restoring that account.

I cannot believe how much this application has cost me so far in terms of time and effort on trying to restore and reclaim my pop email accounts. I am still trying to reclaim emails that this POS application stored into oddball folders (renamed folders based on the original folder[ Original Folder: pop.***.com ; Cloned folders: pop.***.com1, pop.***.com2, etc]).

Even using the proper restore software for my email client cannot restore the emails that reside is those BS folders. Only thing I can do is move the folder in and out as needed which is bullshyt. Tech support never responded to any of our emails and they won't help me UNLESS I pay for the application AND subscription service(again, why should I have to pay for an application that messed up my email client and settings?? Sounds alot like extortion and like those Adware crap).

I have already started sendingout warnings to alot of my business partners and clients to be very wary of this app. Also will be posting a journal on our website of the task handed to us just by installing this application, complete with logs as well as time and energy spent trying to get things back to normal.
This is the WORST decision I have ever made by installing this application. If any of the Tec support people are interested, I have screenshots of all these pseudo-folder thier software created and the havoc of just intalling it has caused.

It is now official, I have lost over 1000 important and pertinent emails thanks to Spam Monitor's rogue integration when installed. The worst part was that these people wanted to extort money from me when all I did was install thier software.

Had to uninstall and re-install the email client we have used for years and re-do the setting from scratch to re-claim the use of our POP servers. However, because of the way SM configures itself, it created a ton of redundant folders that served no other purpose other than to make it impossible to recover the emails. The 'lackadaisical' attitudes we were shown by these so called 'professionals' has been forever captured by recording (Yes, we do monitor and record any and all calls concerning our business for training and record keeping). Our next step is to recoup the cost of time and effort to fix a mess they refused to assist in fixing UNLESS we paid for the app and subscribe to thier subscription service(extortion was also captured on recording).

I noticed that none wanted to help address the problem (save for one person), even when we offered to provide info, screenshots and other pertinent data associated with the problem. All we got was the cold shoulder treatment (wow, good customer relations there right?)

Go ahead and delete this thread if need be to hide facts but copies have been backed up...

Hi,

You should always back up your important data on a regular basis incase something like this happens.

Spam monitor should not interfere with the filters or have the ability to delete emails as I thought all it does is add tags to emails. And spam monitor should have the ability to revert setting changes back if you do come across any problems.

Did you ever think of setting up a test environment to test new programs before you put them into production?

If your entire business is dependent on your system, I certainly would not install anything new until I tested it and I would have a test system for new programs and for backup.

Katie has a great point about backups. Think about adding system restore points.
