Hi,
After installing iantivirus on my imac and macbook Time Machine backups to my time capsule failed, it had mounted the backup ok, then failed. Removing iantivirus was the only way i could get backups to complete

Hi Darren,
Could you please tell us which type of drive you are using with Time Machine?
Also could you please try temporarily disabling "Protect my Mac" and seeing whether that solves the problem.
Thanks

I installed iAntivirus nearly three weeks ago on two out of three iMacs. Two were not backing up with Time Capsule. The sparsebundle could not be mounted and Time Machine would not connect to it. On a hunch I uninstalled iAntivirus and all works well once more.
iMac
OS X 10.5.5
1 TB Time Capsule
iAntivirus
Protect my Mac: ON
Product Version: 2008 (1.1)
Engine Version: 1.0.0.2
Database Version 2.0.5
After reading this post I turned OFF 'Protect my Mac' and backups DO work.

I've had the same problem with my time capsule, and ended up with a corrupted sparsebundle back-up file. I uninstalled iAntiVirus to restore back-up functionality.

Sorry for not checking back sooner, the same as everyone else on here and in my original post, I am using time capsule for my backups. and all is now fine since iantivirus has been removed. TBH i don't want to install it again and try your suggestion as everything is now fine

We've recreated this problem and have successfully fixed the issue.
The fix is currently with our QA team so please keep an eye out for an update soon!
Thanks for reporting this issue with Time Machine.

Same thing here, timemachine doesn't work anymore. Even after uninstalling i-antivirus :-( :-(. In the past I have never had any problem with timemachine.
Time machine starts his job, but stays at 'perparing' in the section making copy !
How can I solve this problem (I already uninstalled i-antivirus). Please help.

Please ignore my previous post.
Time still works, but It took more then 15 min. in the preparing section. In the old days, it only took a few seconds (max. 1 minute !)
Could i-antivirus be the problem ?

hi pascali70, are you noticing slowdown with timemachine using iAntiVirus v1.2? If you're not using v1.2 then please run a Smart Update.
Also please note that when you run "Uninstall iAntiVirus.app" it *completely* removes iAntiVirus so if you are having issues with TimeMachine after an uninstall it means that it's not related to iAntiVirus.

Hi Pascal, Ive had that problem before, Time Machine doesn't trust the information it has for changed files, so has to do a check for changed files, normally it should do this only once, and then future backups should complete normally, at least according to Apple

Have now been running latest version of iAV for a few days and Time Capsule backups are working fine.
