Hi
What operating system do you use? What processor and RAM do you have? Do you have any other security software? Is there any particular point that the scan freezes (i.e. the same file everytime)? Have you enabled scanning of archives? If possible, can you please post a screenshot of Spyware Doctor when it has frozen?

Are you by any chance running Zonealarm firewall?

Matt, do you have any knowledge about the Zonealarm problem?

I have an issue at present re a scan freezing on the System Volume Information folder. Sometimes this happens with a variety of security software that scans. Very often (but not always) this can be fixed with altering certain security permissions and share values.
You need to work out if the system is stuck scanning a particular folder or file or if it's related to overloading the cpu or RAM.

Hi Lisa,
Can you try a safemode scan and see if it freezes.
Also if you can provide a screenshot on where the scan hangs, we can investigate this further.
Another thing, could you make sure you are running the latest version, that is, v6.0.0.384.

Is it possible to post the file name? We need to see the exact file and if you could attach the file that would be most appreciated. We can then try to replicate this and see what is causing the lockup.

Have you tried searching for the file? Start> Search> Files and Folders?
When you run the scan and it freezes can you get the exact location of this file and I can try to find it.
Have you tried running a scan in safemode to see if the scan completes. Maybe something is in use and not allowing it to scan the file.

Happened here also, for the last 2 weeks.
I have it set up to run a scheduled scan every tuesday at 03:00. And on the last tuesday mornings when I get up the PC is just hanging/freezing, it is not possible to log on or do anything at all, except pressing the reset button. The program warns me that it has not done a full scan for 20 days now.
Have latest full version, uninstalled and installed. How to find out what is causing the trouble?
