Hi,

I am new in this forum and I am really hoping that somebody here could help me with my problem.

I am using Windows Vista Basic with SP1 and also installed Spyware Doctor ver 6.0.0.362 via Google Pack.

My files, mostly Microsoft Word and Excel, are currently in the Quarantine section of Spyware Doctor after I chose to fix the threats it prompted me after scanning my computer.

I tried recovering my files from the Recovery button it has but to no avail. No recovery ever materializes. My files are still stuck in the Quarantine section of Spyware Doctor. Everytime I run the Recovery button it just prompts me with the message, "Some quarantine items have not been fully restored." If I check the folder where my files are previously located, they are still not there.

My files will not exceed the total size of 200MB and these are not hidden files.

Please help me recover my files, I badly need all of them. I hope somebody here could assist me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi knight4023,

When restoring quarantine files, try waiting about 30 minutes even when you get the message and see if it works. Some times on big files it will time out, but it will still try to restore those files.

If this does not work, send me the copy of the quarantine files and I will try to restore these for you :) Quarantine files located @ C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\quarantine.

Hello AChen,

I tried waiting as instructed, even extended it to an hour, but still not a single file was recovered.

I have a question, if the recovery was successful, where does the recovered files usually appears? Does the files appear in the same folder where it was previously located or in another folder where Spyware Doctor designates?

AChen, I hope you don't mind by asking you this, is there a way that you could provide me the tool(s) that you are using for recovery? Some of the files that were quarantined are confidential documents and I can't just release it that easily. I am hoping for your understanding.

Is there any other way that I can still be assisted?

Again, Im really appealing for your help.

Thanks,

All quarantined items restored will go back to its original location.

Could you try the following:

Go to Settings-> Scan Settings-> Uncheck Scan for rootkit hidden files-> Go to safemode and try to restore the quarantine files.

There are no specific tools to restore quarantined files.

Hi AChen,

I followed your recent instructions, unchecked Scan for rootkit hidden files then recover under safe mode, and waited for more than 2 hrs but still no single file was recovered.

What can/should I do next?

Thanks

I've never had to restore FPs that have been quarantined before, but I want to understand this for when I have to do it sometime.

Quarantined files are in PF/SD/quarantine. I don't have any now, because when I uninstalled ver 5 and upgraded to ver 6 it deleted the few I had.

Is the full (original) path shown for the files in the quarantine folder? How do you know where they go?

Knight4023, could you send us your history file and did you get a message that all files have been restored?

Ohso, the quarantine file is encrypted. All contents in the folder will not make sense... so it will not display any useful information. To find out the location of the restored files, you will need to check the history to see what was removed and if you restore the most recent quarantined file/s, these are the items that will be restored.

AChen, no I didn't saw any message saying that all files have been restored, instead this is the message I kept having during recovery, "Some quarantine items have not been fully restored."

How do I send you my history files?

Cool, thanks.

To send the history files, click on Settings-> History-> Go the the latest file and "Save to File".

I'll send you a PM with my email details. You can send it there or attach it to this thread :)
