Decreased number and size of updates?

Hello,

I noticed that after installing version 50016 today, and subsequently smart updating, only 3 small update files had to be downloaded. Total size less then 1Mb.

This is great, certainly on dial-up connection.

I just wondered why in period between releasing 50016 and today (7sep), only so little update file sizes have to be downloaded...

On earlier versions of PCTools Antivirus I can remember to have almost 1 update file of about 1Mb per calendar day to be downloaded..

What has changed? The technology behind? Or the efforts/time put in updating the definitions? Or are there simply less in the wild viruses being created?

Hi Anothermack,

This is due to the incremental updates :)
If you have been using an older version of PCTAV, you were required to download the whole DB, whereas now, it will download what is new to the DB.
By the way, what version did you previously have installed?
