Full scan was still running after 7 hours and slowed up my computer. So stooped it and had to reboot. Then fine. Is because I have scan archives ticked?

My full scan got stuck after I selected 'scan archives' the first few times too, but now it's running fine.

A full scan with archives ticked can take ages :p
SD has to unpack these files before it can scan it and all depends on how big the archive files are and the larger they are, the longer it will take and you may have heaps of archive files on your PC.

Thanks. Is it safe then to untick the archive files?

I have Archive files checked and only takes me 43 minutes for a full scan using sd version 6.0.0.383 on my computer with 4gb of ram

I unticked Archive Files and full scan took 48 mins. So long as it safe!

I am changing my Antivirus as soon as my subscription for Norton IS 2008 (BloatWare) runs out and thinking of going to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. I find that Norton's antivirus engine is useless. The only thing it ever detects is Tracing Cookies. Even when I was infected with a virus last year, it did not even detect anything, let alone remove the virus.
I like using ThreaFire, so I want to know if ThreatFire and Kaspersky have any compatible issues?
by the way, what do you all think about Bitdefender 2009? Is it better to get Bitdefender or Kaspersky?
Is bitdefender compatible with ThreatFie?
