View Full Version : SD manual activation anger

I recently purchased a new Spyware Doctor activation code online (cheaper than renewing) but I cannot believe the hassle involved in activating this.
Apparently it has to be done "manually" whatever that means. I contacted PC Tools 2 days ago and also yesterday to request the activation but have had no response.
I have three PC's that are now at risk which is absolutely shocking given this is meant to be a security company. I also have a subscription with Superantispyware and the guys there always reply within a few hours.
Is there a way to uninstall the sotware completely so that I can reinstall with my new licence as if it was a brand new machine?

I've replied on my original thread to your message there. It's a sorry saga, I'm afraid and very galling.
Regarding uninstalling and starting afresh: I tried that (as my second option), but somehow, the software recognises your old licence number and treats you as if your running with that - I guess there are registry entries which the 'uninstall' program doesn't clean out.
The best bet (and hero of the hour) seems to be AChen who you can PM from here - he helped me out.

I definitely get the impression they want you to renew the existing licence so they can trick you into doing this automatically, a practice I found disgusting.
That aside why on earth should I renew when it was cheaper to buy a new licence from a 3rd party. Clearly PC Tools think their existing customers are idiots.
