What is your CPU power/speed? Bleaching free space takes a long time and does not necessarily give you more free space back, it just deletes the stored files that you have deleted that could possibly have been restored with File Recoverer. As you install new programs you do get rid of these temporary deleted files, but not all at once, it is the way the computer allocates memeory. However, if you have a lower CPU speed (even if it is duo processor) it could cause the lock-up. Also, if you are using Vista, the operating system has numerous bugs that can lock up many programs if you do nopt run them as administrator or have the DEP feature turned off. Also, becareful when you deal with hardrive memory and paritions, you could damage the RAID structuring if you have RAID 0. Hopefully this helps.
