Atleast i'm not the only one, i've installed the things loads of times, gave up for now, looks like a problem with pctools then, guess we'll just have to wait, knew i should have kept the old version.

Ditto, I've just made another post just like this one .. Glad it's not just me!
Software just goes in an endless loop. On one hand says it needs to update the database, then on the next screen says it's up to date. But refuses point blank to run.
If we're all having the same problem (today?!) then it can't be us .. must be PCTools end?

With out sounding like a know it all and not to bring pctools down, if I didn't think they were could I wouldn't be using them three years down the line, but I wouldn’t trust pctool with all my security, which is why I only use spyware doctor and a different antivirus/firewall, these things seem to happen a far to often with pctools.

I've been using Spyware Doctor since version 4 and haven't had any problems with installations or general use until today, with this new one on a new machine, as generally, all works as it should.
Just seems odd that there's several of us having the exact same problem with the exact same software, with the exact same issue. We're all running different firewalls too, so can't see what the connection is.
Hopefully, it'll sort itself out, as to me, it sounds like something wrong with the database version that's being sent out by the update server? (Otherwise, why on one hand does the new install think it's out of date, and hence wants to update, then to be told, no new updates are available and its up to date)
 .. Confused? I am!

holy crap, I knew I had some spyware on my machine so I tried to install this, coincidentally it's telling everybody the same thing, haha the timing was crazy though because it honestly made me think my machine was screwed!
hopefully they get this resolved soon as I am sure that I do have some small spyware.

Yeah, doing this on 3 different systems right now for me. One way around it, is to scan first... and then register after scanning before registering/updating.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't even get that far. I install it, and it tries to download the Database update when prompted and fails after telling me it's up to date, and the loop starts again. I don't get anywhere near doing any scan(s) on subsequent installs.
i got the same problem also:eek:
i tried the method listed above..bit still isn't working...what to doooo?.any hint?

I might of discovered the error.. ?
On one of the machines I'm having the issue on, it unregistered after installing the updates. I re-registered the machine. After that it still asked for updates, I had it use the internet explorer proxy settings.
Right now it's downloading the Sig Databases. If this works out for me I'll update and let you guys/gals know.

Unfortunately that didn't work, was a long shot.. but oh well.
I use this as part of my malware cleaning order... so I hope it's fixed soon =X.

Try to reinstall your Soy. Doctor in safe mode with networking. SO, uninstlal your current Soy Doctor and then download and install in safe mode with networking. To go safe mode with networking, restart your computer and keep pressing F8. :D good luck n have fun...!!!
