Hello,

I just received notification that my subscription to Spyware Doctor has been automatically renewed and that my credit card has been charged.

I am trying to cancel my subscription to get my money back on this unauthorized charge. But when I tried to contact PC Tools contact phone number here:
1-800-764-5783
http://www.pctools.com/contact/

I got a pre-recorded message where it was already in the middle of the recording stating something like "you can talk to girls here..." then it hung up automatically.

I think this phone number is some kind of date chatline.
What the hell kind of service am I getting from PC Tools?

I don't want to dial this number again to see if I called the right number because they might charge me some outrageous fee on my phone bill.

Why is PC Tools customer service so aweful and why do they make automatic subscription renewals and payment the default option?

I have to waste a crapload of time trying to contact the PC Tools customer service department where I can't seem to reach anyone and now I have to contact my credit card company to stop this automatic payment from going through.

I am extremely frustrated and aggravated with this ridiculous practice of automatic subscription renewals that I never signed up for and I will never use or purchase another PC Tools product again!

Perhaps you dialed it wrong. I used that number today and it worked.

I'm sure AChen, the moderator in this forum should be able to help you out there.

Also, if you want to, you can modify for your specific license whether you want it to autorenewal for you, if you are on the pctools homepage, on the upper right hand corner where it say "MyAccount", which is different from this forum login, you log into that, and locate your license number there, click it and then click modify if you want to stop the autorenewal.

But since it sounds like you were already charged in your card.
I bet Achen the moderator can help you out there.

I swear this is like the one millionth person who has come to this forum with this issue. I just don't understand why people can't read. Like I do in many other threads allow me to quote part of the license agreement that you forgot to read when purchasing Spyware Doctor.

SUBSCRIPTION PURCHASES

If you are purchasing the Software on a subscription basis, then, unless your license is terminated earlier in accordance with the EULA, you agree to allow us to automatically extend your right to receive support and updates for successive periods equal to the length of the initial term, by directly charging your credit card or debiting your debit card prior to each anniversary of the date of purchase for an amount that is no greater than PC Tools' then current price of the Software, excluding promotional and discount pricing. The software support and updates you receive during any renewal term will be as specified in these terms and conditions or as specified by us from time to time.

If you have selected a method of payment other than credit card and direct debit, your subscription will only be renewed if you provide us with a valid payment prior to the anniversary of the date of purchase. We will email you prior to this date to remind you to renew your account.

You agree to provide us with current, complete, and accurate information for your billing account and will promptly notify us if there is any change in your billing address and, where you have paid by credit card, will promptly notify us if there is any change to your credit card number, or credit card expiration date or if your credit card is cancelled (for example, for loss or theft).

You may terminate your subscription to receive software support and updates at any time by contacting our customer support team at 1800 764 5783 (US customers only) or any other local number provided by PC Tools in your region, or by email at least twenty (20) days prior to any anniversary date informing them that you would like to terminate your right to automatically renew your subscription. Note that termination does not entitle you to a refund for any amounts already paid, subject to our 30 day money-back guarantee.

Please note that our 30 day money-back guarantee applies to each additional renewal term.

Also, PC Tools has great customer support. You obviously dialed the wrong number so chill out. PC Tools will gladly refund you your money even though it is technically your fault. Wait for AChen to respond and he will help get this sorted out.

PS- If you signed up to My Account you would have been able to control your subscriptions in terms of whether or not you want them to auto-renew.
