Hi,

First of all; thanks for the free software. Keep it up!

Just had 2 comments (not being unthankful for free software..) I seek a reply to from anyone linked to PC Tools.

1. The already in another topic mentioned 'non-functioning Auto Update function'... How come the software specifically offers this option in a seperate menu, when it does not seem to function??? Why don't you either fix it, or, leave it out, or, 'grey' it out (mentioning something like: 'we are still working on this".. Makes the software indeed seem rather beta..

2. The also already mentioned default setting of the new 'IntelliGuard'. Indeed the Eicar test is not picked up in default on-access scanning, as only processes and scripts are scanned. What's the reasoning behind this? What if a simple .exe file when executed, deletes your c/program files folder? Not important? I don't get it..

Thanks for any feedback,

Brgds,
Anothermack

Hi Anothermack,

1. The scheduler works fine for the auto-updates. However, we are looking at enhancing this feature (feedback from forums) and I have added this as a feature request for future versions.

2. If you try to run the .exe with the default settings on "Processes and Scripts, PCTAV will detect this. By using this option, PCTAV will block execution and the scanner will remove the threat (Check Suspricious item option). Same goes for the Eicar test on this option. However, changing it to "All Files and processes" will detect the zip file during download.

Thanks AChen,

Sorry for question 1. Seems to function indeed after I tried again...

On 2, well, same thing.

I wonder how I, (erroneously, but after testing both items), had same results as other persons who mentioned these 2 items in previous forum topics. Now both seem to function.

Maybe not related (I start to doubt any claims I make now), but today I did get 2 error messages today 'PCTools Antivirus error occured; contact support; error code 10x', after either wanting to move shortcuts in StartPrograms list, and after wanting to shut down Intelliguard before installing some software. Will see how behaviour is during coming days/weeks.

Thanks for the feedback,

Brgds,
Anothermack

Its all good :D

With number 2, there was a bug, but we fixed it some time ago :)

Regarding the error messages, if you come across it again, could you please post a screenshot of the message. We will look into this further.
