Today I decided to purchase a copy of my favorite protection program Spyware Doctor, only I was unpleasantly surprised to find out it does not work, null zilch, etc.
First off, system specs:
Windows XP SP2 32-bit behind a Linksys WRT54GL router, no additional firewall, other than Windows Firewall.
Basically, after install my internet is dead, no access to router even (IP based address, not DNS), I guess TCP/IP is totally blocked, which results in an inability to update, after restarting I get the initial black screen for nearly a minute, "Windows is Loading Up Personal Details" for another minute or two, and then my desktop image with no icons, and no access to any aspect of the OS. Same on Safe Mode, only way to uninstall is go to "Last Known Good Configuration" from the F8 menu and uninstalling, and every time I install it behaves the same way. If I will no be able to install and use Spyware Doctor I guess I will have to be reimbursed for my money, who do I have to contact to do that? But I am still hoping a solution will be provided, as I do want to enjoy the program.
What do you propose?

Hi
Do you have any other security software installed?

No, I don't. Only what I said, nothing else, not even an AV program not to mention FW, and Windows FW is turned off at the moment.

Have you ever _previously_ had any other security software installed?
If yes, what was it?
> Linksys WRT54GL
Is your computer connected to the Linksys by wire or wireless?
Download and install the latest version of ccleaner (ccleaner.com). Click on (run) _both_ the Cleaner and the Registry buttons. Reboot. Run Registry and reboot again until it is clean. That might fix any registry confusion.
How many accounts do you have on that computer (admin accts and limited user accts)?
Create a new admin acct. Create a restore point. Reboot. Install SD again from the _new_ admin acct. See what happens.
Another possibility is you may already have some malware on it that is ... objecting. I'll let someone else cover that.

Connected by wire, I got 2 accounts, both are Admin but right now I'm on defaultly as 2nd admin account (non Admin). I'll try running as this admin account (after cleaning with ccleaner), if not, as 2nd admin account.

Funny little thing... Under this situation (with Spyware Doctor installed, and clicking uninstall, it opens the pctools website which works, all of it, every last byte, and the rest of the internet doesn't, I guess it has some firewall capabilities? Deeming my internets as BAD and their internets as good, I feel gypped. Can't even update the program in order to continue.

Hi runkz,
Could you please send more info in regards to this issue. I sent a PM.

I don't understand. You appear to say that _both_ accts have admin priviledges, but then say "non admin".
Check the accts to be sure if they are admin or limited. Control Panel -> User Accts -> User Accts.
> (after cleaning with ccleaner)
Did that fix anything?

Fixing with ccleaner deleted my typed websites in firefox, but that's about that, when I said non-Admin I mean't an admin account that isn't called Administrator.

The exact same situation happened with me. Tech support told me to uninstall and install version 4. Would like to know if other solution is available, too.

Thanks for the LSP log runkz.
It seems you have another LSP (NL LSP) and this does not allow SD's LSP to work over this other LSP, hence causing a problem.
Note: NL could be Netlimiter, but im not 100% on this ;)
To help resolve this issue, you could try to:
1. Remove the application with NL LSP
2. If you need to keep NL LSP, try uninstalling SD and then the NL application. Reinstall SD and then the NL application. This will make NL's LSP to install over SD's LSP.
If you are unsure of which application uses NL LSP, you can do the following:
1. Go to Start Menu-> Run-> Type in: cmd-> OK
2. The command prompt window will open, type in: netsh winsock reset
3. Reboot
4. Start-> Run-> type "PCTCFix -i" and install our LSP only.

Hey AChen, I just uninstalled netlimiter, restarted, installed sdasetup, and wham, it works. Only question is this though.. During one of my failed installations I have tried to use my registration code, that does count as 1 of my registrations? (out of 3).

Anyway, thanks for the quick fix :)
