Hi tagorton,

Do you have any other security applications installed?

No other virus killers in use. My only security is that supplied with my Mac

Thanks for getting back.

Do you use any of these programs/plugins below?

My guess is that there's an application/plugin installed which uses SIMBL and is misbehaving.

- FScriptAnywhereLoader
- PithHelmet
- Taboo
- TerminalColors
- megazoomer
- acidsearch
- ForgetMeNot
- Visor
- Invisiray
- Afloat
- Star performer
- Plaintext Copy
- Ichatunleash
- Stoplight
- NuclearMouse

If so, which one?

I don't use any of these programs. I keep downloading a new beta but always crashes on startup.

I have the same problem!

I downloaded the free release about 3 weeks ago. The instal went fine and I completed a quick scan.

Since then it has been running in the background and I haven't received any messages.

Yesterday I decided to do another scan, but when opening iantivirus it just held saying "Please wait".

I un-installed and downloaded it again. That just recreated the problem.

The iMac has ClamXav installed, which I run manually.

Any suggestions?

Hi SandMarker,

Can you please try and find crashreports for iavd or iAntiVirus using the console? (located in Applications -> Utilities)
If you find some crashreports then please PM them to AChen or me.

Thanks.

ps: Has any software been installed on your iMac around the time iAV started getting stuck at "Please wait..." ?

Just for info I spent some time checking through my system and a little knoown (at least I don't remember installing it) prog called Broadband optimiser in my startup folder was doing the dirty deed. Removed this and iAntivirus is working fine. So might be worth checking the contents of HD/Library/Startupitems. One can remove all these (except firewall) and replace one at a time to see if anything here is causing a problem.

Hi tagorton, thanks this helps a lot - we'll get our QA team to have a look at what in broadband optimizer could be conflicting with iAntiVirus.

Hi, I've just downloaded iAntivirus to give it a try. It works fine on my MacBook but crashes on launch on my iMac, with the same Crash Reporter message found by tagorton. I haven't got Broadband Optimizer installed, so I'm puzzled about what could be causing the problem.
