When I check IntelliGuard to detect Potentially Unwanted Programs under the Settings Advanced tab, it slows my PC down dramatically. I understand it probably doesn't need to be checked, but why would it slow the PC that much? I have Windows XP with PC Tools Firewall. Thanks.

Hi Wordward,

Does this happen for a short period? or does it slow down the PC until you disable this feature? I have tested this on several PC's and could not reproduce this problem. It seems it may be constantly scanning, possibly conflicting with another program. Do you have anything else running besides SD and PCTFW?

For more info on what this checks for, see http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52734.

Well I didn't leave it on long, but it seemed to last until I was able to uncheck it. Do you think the firewall setting "Enhanced Security" has anything to do with it? I thought I read of some conflicts with this setting on and other apps.

I have enhanced security verification on with the ' detect Potentially Unwanted Programs' active and didn't come across any problems. I would imagine more users to experience this if there was some sort of a conflict here. Have you tried disabling the enhanced security in the FW to see if it helps?

Hello tip-top. Actually I have uninstalled the firewall and so far no problems with PUP. When I have a chance I will reinstalll and see what happens. Thanks for your reply and take care.
