I've always used Partition Magic and loved it. I've just glanced at the function in the Disk Suite and it appears that it does everything that PQ does, this is neat. I may drop PQ (sorry PQ). I'll test this later next week. I must admit that I don't use PQ near as much as I did in the past, in fact I cannot remember the last time I did use PQ. For me rather than splitting drives I find that I need larger drives. My current main laptop has a 100GB drive and I'm upgrading it to a 160GB drive. My new laptop has a 250GB HD. One my newer tower systems has a 250GB boot drive most of which is not used, a 500GB drive (mainly used for Agent news reader downloads), a 1.5TB and 2TB RAID 5 arrays. However this does NOT fit the average user mode. As we move forward I think people will be utilizing much larger hard drives mainly as central media systems. This is the direction I'm heading.

Wow, you have quite a computer setup with massive storage. I just started beta testing and I warn you about this beta product pertaining to partitioning, BACK UP ALL DATA BEFORE YOU PROCEED!!! Look, this program has a tendency to corrupt your hard drive after a failed partition refer to my previous post Corrupted Files System on Partition (http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52735). Until they work it out (which they told me they have recreated my situation but have not implemented the changes in a new version of DS) I would stay away from this function unless you like to take major risks with your precious data. Also, I have used Partition Magic, but what is PQ?

I agree with the backup, I also have several hard dirves that I'm not using and "may" have problems. I was going to run SpinRite against each of them but I still don't have my SpinRite system running. I'm going to use the disk repair utility to test some of these drives and at the same time get my SpinRite system running. First I will test the drive using the Disk Suite and then SpinRite and with another drive I'll reverse the procedure. Because of the repair issues reported I have a real concern about running against a drive that has real data on it.

'PQ' is PowerQuest, the makers of Partition Magic... until Symantec acquired them... which means that Symantec now have both Partition Magic and Disk Suite. Can both survive!

I know I am deeply saddened by this, Disk Suite never had a chance. It just was created and now Symantec will destroy this product with great potential that the bugs are finally being worked out of to become a great product. Also, I used to use numerous products such as Partition Magic until Symantec acquired them and then they dilapidated into worthless programs. The question is, will PC Tools survive?
