I installed the Disk Suite 2009 beta and everything went smoothly. I rebooted my PC and attempted to run the program from my Start Menu. I am continually getting the error message "Disk Suite GUI Module has stopped working - Close Program". So it's impossible for me to get the software up and running to even begin to perform any beta testing.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any idea what could be causing the conflict?

Here is some additional information about my PC to help diagnose the issue:

Please note I have attempted to run as both Admin and Standard User. I also do not have any other disk management software installed on this machine.

Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
Security Software:
1.) PC Tools Spyware Doctor 6
2.) Norton Internet Security 2008
3.) Norton AntiBot

Startup Programs:
1.) Logitech SetPoint (wireless keyboard/mouse)
2.) MozyStat (remote backup software)
3.) HD Audio Control
4.) ATI Catalyst Control Center
5.) Pure Network Monitoring Platform (Linksys Wireless Network)
6.) Norton AntiBot
7.) Symantec Security Technology (NIS 2008)
8.) LiveUpdate
9.) HP Digital Imaging (Network Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier)
10.) PC Tools Disk Suite
11.) pctsTray (Spyware Doctor)
12.) Canon My Printer (Local Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier)
13.) CNSLMAIN (Canon - Same as above)
14.) Adobe Acrobat
15.) Webcam Manager

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I would very much enjoy helping PC Tools test this latest suite.

Hi
Have you tried physically right-clicking the shortcut and selecting Run as Administrator even from the admin account?

Hello SSF,

I know exactly what the problem is, with Vista Microsoft created something to prevent viruses from hijacking your system resources and causing immense damage and it is called Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and you need to deactivate it for this program to proceed in using the GUI. Follow the procedures below to do this:

1. Go to control panel and click "Get started with Windows" under System and Maintenance.
2. Click on show more details at the top right.
3. On the option bar to the left select "Advanced System Settings".
4. Under the Advanced tab in the Performance section click settings.
5. Under the Data Execution Prevention tab click "turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" (it should already be selected since it is the default setting).
6. Click the "add" button and navigate yourself to the PC Tools Disk Suite folder and select the gui application and all driver applications.
7.Click apply then ok and it should fix your problem.

Hopefully this will resolve your problem and you can go and start working with the BETA version. Note be careful, if you look at my previous posts in this forum, this BETA version of Disk Suite has major flaws, I suggest backing up all data before using the application.

Have fun and enjoy the program, but be aware. If you need any more help, post a thread or PM (Personal Message) me directly.

Sincerely,
