Does Spyware Doctor have any protections in place to prevent malware from shutting it down?

If not, this ould be a good featurefor future releases. In fact, if you could tell Spyware Doctor to not only protect itself, but also your antivirus and your firewall, that would be very nice.

Hey Ejr,

Malware, Spyware and Adware come in different forms/functions. Hence the need for a Smart Update feature. As new infections are always being created everyday, new signatures are always needed to detect and remove these new infections.

There are also some viruses that shut down your computer and are not neccessarily malware. I am currently using the 30 day trial version of PC Tools AntiVirus and it seems like a very good program.

We'll see how that goes. :)

Hey dr_Acula,

If you think there is malware on your computer which is going undetected in a scan. Send a malware log to PC tools. If anything is found in your log files, they will be able to create a signature. This normally takes a few days. Smart Update and all should be well.

To do this:
Click on Tools|Malware Detective|Run Tool.

Please note only SD4 has this Malware detective tool. SD5beta doesnt have this feature yet.

Cheers,
