Problems remembering password i IE5.5 (windows 2000) ?

I have just installed IE5.5 on a windows 2000 Professional mashine. My problem is, that I whant IE5.5 to remember my password when logging on to the Internet. At first it looks as if it will remember it allrigt, but next time i launch IE 5.5 my password is replaced with something much longer. There semes to be a problem in either IE 5.5 or in windows 2000. Can anywhone please help ?
