View Full Version : Need Registry keys to "police" office

Help. I have set up a mandatory user profile for students and restricted it using registry tweaks (I did not have good luck with policies and so decided to go right to the heart of the matter). The profile includes "run only allowed windows applications" and netscape (the only browser on our machines) is not "allowed". Normally, if you try to run it you receive the expected message "operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this machine". However, all the user needs to do is run Office, set autocorrect to replace URLS with hyperlinks, double click on the link and Office runs Netscape.

Can anyone help me with the correct wording and placement to set a restriction to prevent users from replacing URLS with hyperlinks? I know that the resource kit (which we do not have) includes a template with a policy which will make this entry, and I know that it goes somewhere in the HKEY_CurrentUser\Software\policies area. The students have access to Office97 (not 2000) as I also know that the settings are stored in a different place for these two applications.

Thanks,

Andi
