After removing the reg. entry value :- mstask.exe and sheduling agent the task sheduler is still alive and kicking. Any answers would be appriciated. Phil.

After removing the value:- mstask.exe from:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\curr entversion\runservices sheduling agent. the task sheduler icon is still displayed on my task bar and is still operable. Phil.

Right click on task scheduler from the system tray. In the menu bar you will find options or tools. Inside there you will find "Stop using scheduler" and it will be done.

If all else fails, delete the jobs from within Task Scheduler first. If you have Norton Antivirus and have enabled startup scan, this could be the reason why.

Also if you do a repair of Internet Explorer or and upgrade it will be put back in under RunServices.
