PC tools, I am a long time user of your products, yet this one is the worst of all time. I wanted to increase the space in one of my partitions on my Western Digital 500 GB hard drive and so I decided to try it with PCT Disk Suite and about 8 hours in it stopped and said partition failed. Then I checked to see if my files were still intact which they were until I restarted my computer. Once my PC fully rebooted, I checked the hard drive again and it said that partition was unformatted. I know my files are still there, yet the computer does not recognize the previous file system (NTFS). I am really disappointed with this product, because of this issue; I had all of my back-up files saved on that partition this desperately needs to be resolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PC Tools please help, I really liked your other products but you need to help me and fix this product so that this doesn't happen again!!!!!! :mad:

Achen (PC Tools support) will most likely reply on Monday July 14, 2008. I say this because he is usually not on viewing any of the threads over the weekend. It is now Monday here on the East Coast (USA) so hopefully he responds soon.
I have not personally tested the Partitioning part of the program yet, although it looks like it should work just fine. Hang in there dude.

We do apologize for the problems caused by the Disk Suite application. As stated on WEB site it is still Beta version and stability may be somehow affected by this. The team is working hard to improve the product and make it as stable as possible; however unexpected problems still can happen.
In order to improve the product and prevent this from happening in future version could you, please provide following information if you find it possible to do:
- What OS version (with service packs) do you have?
- User rights for logged in user (Admin, Limited, Guest, etc)
- What kind of partition was corupted ( primary / logical )?
- Corrupted partition disposition ( first primary / other primary / first logical / last logical , size of partition )?
( May be better make screenshot from maximized "Partition" page )
- Could you, please, send history file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PC Tools\DiskSuite\aDSHistory.xml"
and application log files which resides on following locations (all files from folder, preferably in single archive):
for Vista: C:\ProgramData\PC Tools\DiskSuite\Logs
for Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PC Tools\DiskSuite\Logs

Hello, sciecewis1.
Sorry, but I really need DiskSuite log to investigate problem.
To find log file try next steps:
- Open System disk ( C: ) in explorer;
- Click "organize" button on top-left;
- Select "Folder and search options" in pop-up menu ( "Folder options" dialog appears ).
- Select "View" tab on this dialog.
- Select "Show hidden files and folders" in "advanced settings" list.
- Click "OK"
Now You can see folder "ProgramData" in root of system disk.
Now You can access the "C:\ProgramData\PC Tools\DiskSuite" folder.
Send me, please, C:\ProgramData\PC Tools\DiskSuite\aDSHistory.xml and all C:\ProgramData\PC Tools\DiskSuite\ADSAPI.lod_<date-time>.cab where date is date when Your disk was corrupted.
PS: can You please, before sending "DSHistory.xml", perform Repair/Check Integrity DiskSuite task on corrupted volume. This may be very helpfull !
Thanks,
reply, please, to DSReports@pctools.com

Hi, sciecewis1.
Once we were able to reproduce that looks like the same problem as reported by you earlier.
Data from corrupted disk was restored... But we must be sure, that you had exactly same situation.
Can You, please, run "Disk Suite / Repair / Check Integrity" on corrupted disk.
Then send, please, aDSHistory.xml. ( C:\ProgramData\PC Tools\DiskSuite\sDSHistory.xml )
Please, send aDSHistory.xml to DSReports@pctools.com
Thanks in advantage,
Andrei

It would be really nice if another option button was provided beside the help "Report an Issue", when clicked it would first gather all the necessary information to assist the developers. I do a lot of testing and very often forget to supply key information or as I move between my systems I forget which system has what or if I swap out a HD with the OS on it and replace it with another OS version I'm not sure of what level everything is at.

Many thanks for the feedback :) I'll pass this onto the DS developers. In future, post any feedback in this thread: http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53054 :)
