Hello, I am having trouble updating the free version. I have PC Tools firewall installed and the antivirus is on the applications list. However, whenever I download the updates and restart my computer; the number of Intelli-signatures, database version, and engine version does not change. I run smart update again only for the same thing to happen. I have Win2K and am running the beta version. This problem also happened with the 4.0 version. This is the only antivirus that is installed in my system. Any help would be appreciated:)

Hi stellar_sky1,
What message are you receiving when running an update?
"Error downloading the list of Updates"? or is it saying that the database is up to date?

The software can connect fine and download updates, it's just that whenever the updates download, and I restart my computer; The section that tells me how many Intelli-signatures, database version, engine version does not change. I run smart update again expecting it to tell me that it is up to date, but it downloads the same updates again.

Do you mean that the engine, database & intelli-sig information does change as a result of the update process and then when you restart it has reverted back to the previous info, or that it doesn't change at any stage as a result of the update?

Hi stellar_sky1,
I did a test on this and couldn't recreate this problem.
What is the Database Version and Intelli-Signature count once you run an Update and once you reboot?
Could you also try uninstalling and reinstalling PCTAV following the instructions below:
Exit PCTAV from the system tray by right clicking on the icon and selecting Exit-> Go to Start-> Programs-> PC Tools AntiVirus-> Uninstall PCTAV-> Reboot
Go to c:\Program Files\PC Tools AntiVirus and delete this folder if it exist.
Download and reinstall PCTAV v5.0.0.7 beta by clicking here (http://www.pctools.com/mirror/avbeta.exe).
Or if you wish to download PCTAV v4.0.0.26, click here (http://www.pctools.com/mirror/avinstall.exe).
