Scan Speed Faster or Slower with Anti-Virus

I don't know if this has been asked before, but here we go. I have the lisence for Spyware Doctor but not the Antivirus intergraded one. The scan speed is very slow (taking over 2min to do a intelli scan, over 2hours for a Full scan), version 5.5.0.212 of Spyware Doctor without antivirus was very quick (taking about 52sec to do a intelli Scan). it also took less than 30min to do a full scan.

i now have the Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus version 5.5.1.322 installed, but the anti-virus is not active. is the scanner in the stand alone Spyware Doctor faster than the anti-Virus intergraded version? I would like to know so i can reinstall the Stand alone version.

The next thing PCTools should work on is the Scan Speed. the detection rate is very good, as well as the OnGuard detection rate.

If you open Spyware Doctor and click Smart Update, you will enable the anti-virus component. You will find the intelli-scan very fast, the full scan speed will depend on ow many files you scan. If you know certain files like your music, for example, are safe, you can define a custom scan that scans more files than an intelli-scan, but less than a full scan. Cheers.

The scan time will depends the amount of files scaned.
The full scan(obviouslly) scan all the files of your comp
So,be patient,this usually may take some time

SD v5.5.1.xx fixes issues with handling files inside archives (zip, jar, chm, etc).

Also note that many generic signatures have been added. The results of these are:

If you have many files inside archives (zip, chm, jar, etc) then these will be fully checked and hence scan times will increase.
When using generic signatures, certain characteristics are used to identify files that should be checked, if you have many files that match these characteristics then the scan time will be longer.

Overall this means that scans are more thorough and detections will be better.

SD v5.5.1.xx actually adds much of the technology used by SD+AV, so overall scan times will be similar to SD+AV and detections will improve with SD.
