Apple recommends that you install an Antivirus as there are threats that can do damage. Check out http://blog.iantivirus.com/ for some information. It looks like there is a growing trend with threats for Macs :)

http://blog.iantivirus.com/ is saying there's now a new iAntiVirus database available which detects some new trojan for Mac.

Well there are some, but most of them are hard to get. They're not really in the wild, so you're quite safe. Some spyware, etc. can be installed by other users on your Mac and some scareware, etc. can be installed by yourself.
By the way, the program is for Intel only, but it also recognizes viruses for Mac OS 9...:D Which can't run on an Intel, am I right? Does it make the list of threats longer... or are they in the list, to prevent us from sending these viruses to other Mac-users running Mac OS 9 on PPC.;)
I don't say it's bad to put them in, because it's good to know all possible threats for Macs are covered, but it looks like there's more to be scared of, than there really is in the wild. It's also good to mention that Macro-viruses for Microsoft Office-users are not in the package. I hope that iAntivirus will take care of them in the near future, because these viruses are also a threat to Mac-users running Microsoft Office, a bigger threat than the viruses for the old Mac OS.:)
