Attention Achen , update databases failed

Yesterday everything was OK, just perfect.
Today 29/05/08, in the morning the last update of signatures failed, size of update 168,18 kb. I reinstall SD but it did not fix the problem.
Please, pass this issue to SD team.

I have SD 5.xx.332 without AV.

Might be mess with databases for SD+AV and SD without?

Yes , I want to add that after re-installing SD it is not possible to update the whole database, not only the last 168,18 kb, because you cannot choose now what signature database download. If you unmark one signatures then all of them get unmark. I have now database like 220000 sth, like in Starter Edition :eek: :D

P.S. I cannot start to test SD v 5.5.1.336 beta, have no time, because still testing v 5.5.1.332. You are never bored, everyday something new appears :D

I have checked this out and appears to be ok from this end. When you say fail, what do you mean? what sort of error message are you receiving and when exactly does it fail?

Had good internet connection

I tried a few times (5 during 1hr) then reinstalled SD.

Now, I checked and all is OK.

Thank you for prompt reply and fixing to SD team.

Well, I had a pop-up screen say "update failed" yesterday and again today. I don't remember ever seeing that message previously. Maybe there's some problem.

Yes, I did not noticed that pop-up screen before.

But, after the latest update (I am not sure that is the reason, but..) I have again problem with CCleaner, Your Uninstaller (when clean garbage). They froze when start deleting garbage.
I had not had this problem for a few days and it now appears again.
I think that File Guard prevents the deleting somehow.

So I found the only solution - disable all the Guards while I clean garbage on pc and no problem, then enable again.

i am having trouble with downloading today's malware-database update, 5/30/08.. when i try to download the update, instead of downloading the file, the updater jumps to "finished", with a red x displayed..

i am using SD build 4.1.. i read that the new SD 5.5-beta uses a different format (?) for the malware-database file.. maybe that is the source of the problem?

Me too - as of 15.21 GMT today.
Updated just fine yesterday - now - nothing.

Error box says "error downloading one or more files. Please try again later."

Here's some more info. This is for our second computer that now (recently) runs SDwAV (purchased version).

Win XP Pro+SP2+updates.
SDwAV, prod ver 5.5.1.322, db ver 509940e, 804,867 sigs, av engine 5.5.1.2

I noticed in SD history on 5/28 at 7:45 pm PT:
"Trojan downloader small gen
siteguard has blocked access to a bad website
risk level high
infection caatagouk.com 85.255.121.195"

From that entry, when I scroll up to today's date, every entry in the history file that says Smart Update has a red X and "Smart update has experienced a download error. Please try again later." There are _no_ successful smart update entries in the history file since the site guard warning.

But when I click on Smart Update on the GUI screen, it says "your product is up to date." This appears to be contradictory since there are no successful update entries for two days.

I have run SDwAV full scan from the admin acct and also in safe mode. Nothing was reported. I have run AdAware 2008 (free version) manually and nothing was found.

What is the current db version (noon PT)?

I am seeing the exact same problem which seems to be related to the anti virus update bit of the auto update.

This is a new problem (last couple of days) and hasn't got anything to do with changes on my end (no changes). Everything else works, only this PCTools update cocks up!

Admins...what gives?

Ok, my final, personal verdict.

After running new SD version 5.xxx.332 from the date of release I found it is very unstable on my machine. I actually can say it was not running, but constant testing.
I wrote in different posts here in the forum about problems I had.

Summary:
- problem with updates
-conflict with and blocking known programs like CCleaner, Your Uninstaller...
- increased CPU consumption compare with SD v 5.xx.212
- frozen OS on start-up and re-boot.

Hmm.... about a month of having problems, had not never before like this with previous versions of SD.

So, I will use this version only on-demand scan.
Hope and believe that SD team will improve and fix some issues in the future releases, then I will put SD back on duty on my machine again.

Uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled.

Still the same problem.

I had a response from a tech yesterday who asked me to try the update in safe mode. Did the same thing and I reported that back. Since then I've heard nothing back and there doesn't seem to be any new on this forum either.

Does anyone know anything more or have you resolved the problem yourself?

it successfully completes
antivirus database 018 finished
and errors on second file
