I'm new to Spyware Doctor and was desperately in need of a decent spyware remover for my computer as I had collected some unwanted trojans and the lot, so I just went and purchased Spyware Doctor 5.5.1.322. It cleaned everything up wonderfully but then after restarting I found that I had lost my internet connection, the wireless was connected I just wasn't getting anything to pick up that connection (firefox came up as a blank page, IE came up with page cannot be displayed and WLM wouldn't connected) So i tried closing the all of guard options on it to see if it was blocking the DNS server or something. No good. So I tried uninstalling and now my internet is working again.
I would like to keep Spyware Doctor seeing as I have just paid for it, but how do I stop it from blocking my internet connection? I also have Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security installed so might that be causing a problem?

Hi Zelos,
There could be 2 possibilites here. Either the removal of the infection has caused an issue or a conflict with SD and another app/process and I'll need to know exactly what is happening in order to assist you further.
First thing to try is to go into safemode with networking and see if the internet connection is restored as this will determine if it is a conflict with an app/process.
Safe Mode with Networking

How to Shutdown and Restart the Computer in Safe Mode with Networking:
1. Click on the Start button menu on your Task Bar
2. Select Shut Down from the menu (''Turn off Computer'' in XP). The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box will appear.
3. Select Shut down (or, ''Turn Off'' in XP) and click the Yes (or OK) button
4. When the computer starts back up, begin immediately by pressing the F8 key repeatedly until the Windows Startup menu appears with various options
5. By using the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard, select 'Safe Mode with Networking' and not any other modes.
6. Login to your account (if asked)
7. Wait and eventually Windows will start in Safe Mode
8. Run Spyware Doctor
Note* Onguard and Immunizer cannot be activated in Safe Mode.
Please remember to reboot your computer after you completed these instructions.
If it does not work in safemode, are you running SD standalone or SD+AV? If you are running SD+AV, could you please uninstall this and see if this restores the internet connection?
Let me know how you go and I'll assist you further.

Thanks for the information but due to a problem with a piece of spyware I deleted my internet stopped functioning properly and I decided just to restore my computer back to it's factory settings. I've since reinstalled Spyware Doctor and am now having no problems getting online. I just need to make sure I don't go deleting the wrong files again

I had the same problem. I have an HP slimline s3220n with 2 gb of ram and a 400 gb hard drive. I also use Norton Internet Security.
I installed SD & AV version 5.5.1.322, and as soon as I rebooted the computer I lost my internet connection. I talked to several technicians at HP, one of whom told me to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows! Fortunately, I checked this bulletin board before following that advice. As soon as I uninstalled SD I regained internet access.

You may want to uninstall Norton. Having 2 real time protection programs is not a good thing.

Hi,
My computer downloaded this update in the past 2 days and today I got the blue screen of death indicating my computer was shut down to avoid further damage.
This is the only thing I've downloaded recently. Have you heard of anyone else having this problem since updating to the latest version?
thanks!
