AVG is more or less forcing an update to 8.0. Some FAQ show that AVGAV 8.0 Free doesn't work with some spyware programs (as avg now has in it some anti-spyware capabillity).

Anyone have any experience using avgav 8.0 along with Spydoctor or perhaps achen can comment on the compatibility between spydoctor and avg 8.0

working on vista business sp1, old machines using avg 7.5 and doctor; new machine using avg 7.5 and rival anti-spyware that won't work with avg 8.0

thanks in advance

incidentally one of the selling points of doctor is this fine forum

Hi tigertheboo,

I have run a test with SDv5.5.1.322 and AVGv8.0 and did not come across any problems with the 2 programs. If you have installed AVG, you will get a prompt to uninstall any other security programs, but the 2 will work without any problems.

Make sure kernel compatibility mode has been enabled :)

I strongly recommend that you run SD/AV and get rid of AVG. You should not run more than one active anti-spyware nor one anti virus. AVG 8 has some issues. Stick with what works.
