Can you give me the current version numbers (exact) for SDE and the Database they use

my server seems to be stuck on pulling down: 3.05220.
is there away of manually updating the files on the server (for distribution?)

most of my machines on on spyware version: 3.2.2.455 but i have 2 that are reporting 4.0.0.2621, how is this possible?

If you open the SDE Server Console and click on the 'Commands completed' section. The right hand window will display all completed commands whether they were successful or not. Please locate the entries that show Smart Update errors for the machines in question. If you double click on those entries the full error will appear.

Could you please confirm what the whole error says?

It may be easier to do this with a screenshot.

TO SEND A SCREENSHOT:
1. When the applicable error or message is displayed on the screen press the print screen key.
2. Go to the Start button/Run and type in pbrush and click ok.
3. Paint Brush will open, Click Edit on the menu at the top of the Paint Brush window and select Paste from the menu that appears.
4. Click on File > Save As > please enter SDE in 'File Name' and then use the drop down box in 'Save as Type' to select JPEG File > Save
5. Attach the file to a reply to this thread.

It is not the pc's that have the issue.....its the server

The SDE server will not download/deploy anything newer than database version 3.05220 or spyware version 3.2.2.455.

Are the files on the PCTools server newer than this?

The same area will show the Smart update commands for the server. We need to see this info to see what is actually happening and are you getting a Smart update error or is the server telling you that there are no updates?

Could you please try the following:

To uninstall the Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server and Console:

1. Click Start -> All Programs / Programs -> Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server -> Uninstall Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server and Console.

Alternatively, the Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server and Console can be uninstalled through the Windows Control Panel by completing the following steps:

a. Open the Windows Control Panel by clicking Start -> (Settings ->) Control Panel.

b. In the Control Panel, click or double-click Add or Remove programs / Add/Remove Programs.

c. In the list of currently installed programs / software, click the Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server and Console item to select it.

d. Click the Remove / Add/Remove... button.

The Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server and Console uninstaller removes the Spyware Doctor Enterprise database. If a Spyware Doctor Enterprise database is found, the uninstaller provides the option of backing up the database using the Database Utility.

2. Select Run Database Utility to back up Spyware Doctor Database to run the Database Utility and select Remove Spyware Doctor Enterprise Backup files to remove the database backup files, which are stored within the Spyware Doctor Enterprise installation directory by default.

3. Click Uninstall to continue with the uninstallation process.


The uninstaller does not remove MSDE. This is a precautionary measure taken to ensure that any other applications residing on the system that may make use of MSDE are not affected by the uninstallation of Spyware Doctor Enterprise. To remove MSDE from the computer:

* Open the Windows Control Panel by clicking Start -> (Settings ->) Control Panel.

* In the Control Panel, click or double-click Add or Remove programs / Add/Remove Programs.

* In the list of currently installed programs / software, click the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine item to select it.

* Click the Remove / Add/Remove... button.

Once uninstall is complete please reboot the PC.

After the reinstalllation of ther server and console, you are required to add all the computers again, however you do not need to reinstall the Spyware Doctor clients again.

The latest version (client) is 4.0.0.2621 and version 3 for the server.

Latest version of SDE is still v3.0.1.24 and the DB version is 3.11240.
